Marie-Celine Farver RN BSN IBCLC RLC
Marie Farver is a registered nurse and international board-certified lactation consultant. She has been a labor and delivery nurse since 1984, and works in a birthing center where she also takes care of mothers and babies after delivery.
Realizing the inappropriateness of asking a woman in labor to rate her pain, Marie and her nurse manager developed a scale to assess coping instead. Their Labor Coping Scale has been adopted by Kaiser Permanente Hospitals and Sutter Health Hospitals. Read about the coping scale's development and implementation:
