All Things Are To His Glory

As you look towards delivery, guard against godless thinking, like the world thinks. See yourself in God, in God’s plan. Dedicate yourself to him, as a steward of this child for him, as a vessel for him, yielded to his work through your body as you prepare your heart and mind for his work of birth. You see, it is his work in and through your body to give delivery.

Isaiah 66:9 says,

“Do I bring to the moment of birth and not give delivery?, says the Lord.”

Romans 12:1 – 2 says,

“Therefore I urge you brothers in view of God’s mercy, to present your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and acceptable to God. This is your reasonable act of worship.”

You see in these verses, that it is God who gives delivery. You also see in the verses from Romans, that you yield yourself, and it is an act of worship on your part to cooperate with his work of birth in your body. For it is not just with the body we give birth and become parents, but with our mind and heart as well, a whole – souled dedication to God for this work of birth and nurturing a new human being for him. Like Hannah, who dedicated her son Samuel to God’s service, so you dedicate this child to God’s service. Even before birth! That’s what Hannah did.

1 Samuel 1:10-11says,

“In her deep anguish Hannah prayed to the LORD, weeping bitterly. And she made a vow, saying, “LORD Almighty, if you will only look on your servant’s misery and remember me, and not forget your servant but give her a son, then I will give him to the LORD for all the days of his life.”

Like Hannah, realize this child is God’s handiwork and God’s property, on loan to you for a time as a steward for him. Yield yourself first for God’s use and glory, and then your child – yield your child to God for his use and glory. That is our and our child’s chief end and the chief end of all things, to glorify God, and the chief end of our birth. That is ultimately our birth plan. As well as our whole life’s plan.

1 Corinthians 10:31,

“Whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.”

Amen.
